NEW DETROIT FACILITY OPENED!!!

We are very pleased to announced the opening of a third Advanced Border Processing Center. The new facility is located in Detroit, Michigan at 3333 W. Fort St. with access from I-75, I-95 and I-96.

ABpC - WHAT IS IT?

  • A centre of excellence, which will service those drivers who do not have the means to transmit customs information prior to arrival at the border

  • A facility which enables the border process and Customs analysis to happen well in advance of the driver's arrival at the border

  • A facility whose principal role is supported by both U.S. Customs and Canada Customs

  • A facility that meets the U.S.and Canadian Customs requirements for pre-arrival information

  • A facility that responds to recommendations of the 30 point action plan and other local community groups

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Driver arrives at the centre, presents paperwork to centre staff employees/or paperwork is sent ahead of the drivers arrival by either the shipper, the manufacturer, the carrier or freight forwarder

  • Employee ensures driver has necessary documentation

  • If required, additional information is secured or driver is assisted with documents

  • Documentation is scanned and transmitted to the Customs broker of record

  • Confirmation of receipt and completeness is acknowledged

  • Cargo, carrier, driver, equipment info transmitted to CBP via EDI

  • Receive status messages from Customs & entry # from broker

  • Prepare driver leadsheet & ensure driver has complete knowledge of process

  • Driver continues in-transit to the border, confident the broker and U.S Customs have sufficient time to process the shipment information.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY?

  • Because a substantial percentage of the trade community is not equipped to transmit the necessary information

  • Because enhanced border security features and processes in both Canada and the U.S. have changed the border flow

  • Because border processes have not sufficiently supported the increase in cross border trade

  • Because the centre responds to all of these changes and will meet the needs of the future requirements and information
